Another fresh new voice in the ever expanding true indie realm, director and actress Emma Zbiral Teller introduces herself but doesn't make eye contact, she's off on her own, busy getting her own kicks. You have to make an impression on her, not the other way around...Her film is a stunning, if vague, piece of art cinema, yes, reminiscent of a video art installation, but it's not some staid visual collage, it's got real cinematic momentum, which can be predominately attributed to the dynamite lead performance by Teller herself...Her hysterical pregnancy is haunted by visions of the Virgin Mary, in reflections, out windows. All coiled energy, all fist in a ball, ready to cry or yell or leave. A talented physical performer, she slinks and squirms to move, or sits motionless and expresses both 'no emotion' and 'all emotion'. The stark images and editing are just as forceful as the woman in front. Take this one all the way, and watch out for new work by Emma Zbiral Teller. [18 minutes] Watch the film on YouTube.
