From the directing team that brought you The Mud, last year's NoBudge award winner for Best Short, The Greggs is an uproarious follow-up about a foursome sporting color-coordinated turtlenecks, all named Gregg, holed up in a house making standardized tests. They derive their wits & inspiration from a painting, "The Gregg", but when he/it goes missing, everything falls apart. Without the guiding force of "The Gregg", they eschew their test-making responsibilities in favor of performing choreographed dance numbers & having orgies. In other words, they are lost. Meanwhile, the mysterious woman who picks up the tests & shuttles them to the institutions sounds an alarm causing tremendous panic because, apparently, the Greggs are the only ones who write tests. "The people are desperate. They say they need more tests." Starting to get the idea? Yep, a nonsensical free-for-all. It's no secret, I'm a big fan of all parties involved here. The collective of actor/directors has some of the best group chemistry out there. They don't take themselves seriously but do demonstrate real chops. The Greggs feels like a sketch but has the structure of a film & doesn't wear out its welcome. It's long for a short, but still feels breezy at 20 minutes. Easily one of our funniest comedies of the year, or any year. Very happy to present The Greggs as an Online Premiere. And if you haven't seen The Mud, what are you waiting for? CLICK HERE ASAP.
