Cut is a story about numbness, and finding ways to shock yourself out of complacency. Sometimes, you don't feel the impact when a door slams in your face or a good friend punches you in the gut. You find yourself wandering down a dangerous path or doing something a little crazy. Sometimes, because the wounds are interior and hidden, it can be comforting to manifest that pain outwardly. As the moment approaches, the tension builds, and then, a release and there is no going back. The mark is made permanent, the pain exposed, and it is only after, when you've survived (hopefully), a bit worse for wear, that you realize that something happened to you and that whatever you just did, you did it to yourself.
Cut is the third in a series of personal short videos, inspired by the real and imagined life of Elizabeth Abrams. If you'd like to see more, send her an email telling her to come on already and get her website together.
