*Online Premiere* Lucy can't seem to get comfortable at the beach. Directed by Brittany Reeber, “Beach Dance,” is a silent dance film (set to Sam Cooke) about movement, impulse, and alienation. Its fun-and-sun setting is contrasted with delightfully odd, downbeat choreography by Lucy Kerr — she’s fascinating to watch as she squirms and contorts her way through the sand (the lying sideways hop at 2:33 is my favorite). Interpretive dance injected with a wry sense of humor, a unique blend of the charming and melancholic. Sometimes, a day at the beach is no day at the beach. [Watch on YouTube]. (5 minutes).
