*Online Premiere* On the brink of a new life together, Charlie ignores Nicki's pleas to let go of her past. “Belgiac,” a film by Eva Depoorter, is a strangely captivating piece of experimental video art about a young woman succumbing to nostalgia. The voices in her head tell her to go home, to Brussels, Belgium, and she can’t let the idea go, and her relationship is deteriorating under the weight. Depoorter constructs the film as a visual montage, filled with arresting lo-fi images of real and symbolic characters engaged in a series of uneasy poses in confined spaces. Art design features in prominently — the black, yellow, and red of the Belgium flag is seen throughout, in flower arrangements, finger nail polish, a pill box, and others. And a pulsating electronic score adds another layer of agitation. [Watch on YouTube]. (13 minutes). Directed by Eva Depoorter. Starring Leah Serinsky, Dani Martineck, and Camille Schoeker.
