*Online Premiere* Spence visits Monika in hopes of rekindling an old relationship but instead he encounters her new scene of EDM-head friends and their blissed-out pre-party. They invite Spence to a rave called Poseidon but he’s not the sort who enjoys this sort of “soulless yuppie” music, and just wants to spend time with Monika alone. He's able to steal her away for a bit, but she’s already rolling pretty hard and his over-seriousness is harshing her vibe.
Little Labyrinth is an intimate tale of city social life and the designations we place on ourselves and others. It isn’t afraid to go a little hammy in service of highlighting identity as defined by musical preference and/or drugs of choice. It works because it’s grounded in a real rift, that perpetual battle between lovers and haters of music made by computers, and because the characters are clearly drawn, the conflict clearly rendered, and the performances clearly vulnerable. (13 minutes). Written and directed by Ben Hozie. Starring Eric Kuehnemann and Nikki Belfiglio. Shot by Oliver David.
