*Online Premiere* PRESENTED BY MOVIES BRAND // An optimistic video store owner tries to keep the physical experience alive in an age of digital streaming. “Memory Video,” directed by Roy Power, introduces us to Miguel Gomez and his homespun movie shop outside Philadelphia: Viva Video: The Last Picture Store. One of the last of its kind (see also: Baltimore’s great new > Beyond Video), the store functions more as a passion project than a profit-making venture, which is how the doc expands beyond its profile-y foundation into a rich portrait of a man, his family, and his unfortunately antiquated pursuit. Lifted by the relatable nostalgia most of us probably feel for the memories of youth wandering through aisles and aisles of movies, it’s an endearing character study of Gomez, his wide-eyed sweetness, and the earnestness of his mission going against the grain. NoBudge is happy to present the Online Premiere of “Memory Video” in collaboration with Movies Brand, which aims to promote movies by offering hats & other merch that simply say the word movies.
