An oddly comic character study about a woman dealing with a pesky neighbor. The skittish man comes to her door asking for help. The woman declines repeatedly but he won't leave, so she finally relents and drives him to a nearby locksmith to pick up a spare key.
But as the favor starts to expand — the locksmith is closed, then he has to stop for a bathroom break — the woman hits her threshold, “I’m not your chauffeur.” And demands they return home. But it’s not so easy with the squirrelly man who is constantly squirming out of her grasp.
The film is directed by Sarah Salovaara who clearly relishes an awkward situation. She gets great performances from both leads. Carlen Altman as the irritated woman carries the film. There’s never a false moment with her, and she lands several laugh out loud jabs, like when she tells the man after slamming the door on him to stay positive.
A bizarre little nugget (as the title says), mostly devoid of context or resolution, but filled with offbeat chemistry between two memorable characters. (10 minutes). Starring Carlen Altman and Carl Kranz. Cinematography from Ashley Connor. Written, Directed and Edited by Sarah Salovaara. Produced by Rachel Wolther and Sarah Salovaara
