The day of a children’s performance duo is compromised by a trip to the dentist. This charmingly lo-fi L.A. comedy, directed by Jacob Womack & Casey Feigh, follows the day of two friends & creative partners as they are forced into doing a weird favor for an odd fellow named Donovan. After a performance at a kid’s birthday party, Talia and Stephen strategize how they could improve on their act, and Talia suggests a juggling workshop later that night. Unfortunately, Stephen can’t make it because he has to take Donovan (their dads are friends) to a dentist appointment. The new conflict spurs questions from Talia about Stephen’s dedication to their endeavor (“this is a business, man!”), and the supremely awkward Donovan, who loves candy and requires a lot of attention, further complicates the situation with his strange behavior. “Our Dads are Friends,” features great banter and comic timing from its three leads — co-directors Womack and Feigh star alongside Talia Tabin, all endearing and hilarious. By the time we reach the dentist, it’s been quite the day, and Donovan says as much, in a surprisingly weighted final sequence. [Watch on YouTube]. (11 minutes).
