*Online Premiere* A pizza delivery man is led on a journey through his own subconscious by a strange customer who orders takeout simply to get a ride home. “Pizza,” by director Caleb Swyers, is a free-for-all dark comedy that becomes about its own making and calls into question the power we have over our lives. Chris heads to work in his mom’s car (promising to keep an eye on her Jesus fish so that “high schoolers” don’t steal it), where he’s confronted with a bizarre predicament. A mystery man barges into the pizza place, commandeering Chris’ evening with a series of requests and beliefs about predetermined lives. Panic builds as Chris tries to deter the man from doing what he’s doing, which seems to be burrowing deep into Chris’ head. Built with nimbly edited freak-out sequences (rapidly changing green screen images and other self-aware filmmaking references play a large part), Swyers’ film is a feast of editing prowess and comically disturbing visuals.
