If you missed it, the film is available for rental/purchase from Vimeo on Demand (2/9/16). *Available for FREE for 1 Week* Quirky sci-fi that never began and never ends but rather exists in the ether all at once. A cult lives together in an abandoned church, sports identical green crocs, and waits for “the signal” to return them to their Venusian homes. Or maybe they’re just making a movie about it, or maybe it’s all a dream.
Led by an odd gentleman named Dave, the group hires a wannabe director on Craigslist to direct a film based on cult’s prophecy that they hope will lead them to the promised land of Venus. And the movie becomes a movie about making a movie reflecting the complicated joy of creation mixed with the absurdity of making a film about a vision in a dream, or vice versa.
Filled with impressive technical achievements (like a continuous five minute shot following two bikes in a circle, or the destruction of a spaceship dropped from the ceiling of the church) it’s characterized by a soothing strangeness and a sense of floating. It doesn’t move forward necessarily as it's not tied down to earth’s gravity -- it would make just as much sense if you were to take a nap in the middle and simply let the smoky logic infiltrate your dreams.
Either way, it’s a memorable film, and ends with a particularly transcendent final sequence. NoBudge is happy to screen the film FREE for 1 week.
