*Online Premiere* An airport pickup gets bumpy for a father and daughter in this quietly moving drama from director Eva Michon. We’re not quite sure what she’s doing here, or where they’re headed, but she seems a little guarded. If there’s tension though, he’s doing his best to ignore it. When the Dire Straits’ “Money for Nothing” comes on the radio, his exuberant air-drumming aims to lighten the mood. Gradually, as they reacquaint, the discussion turns to his new relationship with a woman named Lydia, as well as a big piece of news. “Small Fry” is a self-contained personal vignette that sways to its own beat, evoking a feeling and letting it linger. We recently featured Michon with another short of hers, “All Shook Up,” a surreal dark comedy. This one drives in another direction, an intimate character study imbued with vulnerability and hinging precariously on a trip to McDonald’s. Directed by Eva Michon. Starring Robert Gonera and Lucia Ribisi. (8 minutes).
