*Online Premiere* A girl dressed like a tree tries to find her way home. “Tree Girl,” directed by and starring Marissa Goldman, begins with a spot-on replica of a makeup tutorial video, complete with flashy editing and thumping background music, about how to make yourself look like a tree. After the shoot, Melanie, the tree model, attempts to get paid by a group of indistinguishable men in white t-shirts (who don’t know their own names!), but she gets the run around, and leaves the studio muttering to herself about missing therapy. Her phone dies, she gets lost in the park, and, while still wearing her full tree getup, has a series of awkward interactions with strangers about trees (“you guys into the whole photosynthesis process?”). As the hours pass, she begins to drift into some state of losing it / finding it. It’s an amusing piece of existential wandering, and a showcase for Goldman’s deadpan quips and ability to list many types of trees. [Watch on YouTube]. (9 minutes).
