A woman, who was born literally wearing a wedding dress, meets a man who was born literally wearing a groom's tuxedo. This 16mm comedy from director Christian Cerezo elevates beyond its absurd premise by getting grounded and charming performances from Haley Hepworth and DC Pierson, and establishing a very real sense of longing. Born with a rare disease where fibers grow out of her skin (in her especially rare case, forming as a wedding dress), Kim gives an interview with a national news program about her condition. After airing, a man named Adam comes forward with the same disease (except his fibers form a tuxedo), and a follow-up story about them both is arranged. When they meet for the first time, it’s in a church for a dual interview, and as they wait for it to start, they’re left alone together — two strangers getting to know each other for the first time while wearing full marriage attire in a church. It’s an inspired visual gag (the film is full of such), and the predicament unfolds into an unlikely character study full of pathos, pieced together to reveal that Adam may not be telling the whole truth.
Written and directed by Christian Cerezo. Starring Haley Hepworth and DC Pierson. D.P. Sara Ross-Samko.
