A campy queer, 1980's-esque dating show unravels into a dreamscape chaos of relationship expectations. The music video for “Codependency,” a song by comedian/musician Sofia Dobrushin, delivers catchy indie pop with colorful visuals, handmade set design, and choreographed dance routines. Dobrushin performs her ditty while hosting a dating game show called “Attached at the Hip,” which helps lonely singles find love. When the contestants are asked to define their ideal relationship, they struggle to reconcile their feelings on open-minded, polyamorous connections with baseline codependent tendencies. Brimming with clever lyrics and of-the-moment specificity, the song is an exploration of emotional needs that maintains levity with a cast of antic performers. -KA.
