Waking in the home of a one night stand, a woman steals one thing while forgetting another. “Girlpower,” directed by Caydon LiRocchi, is a minimal, richly observed character study about a morning in the life of a young woman in L.A. Slowly we learn fragments about her life. She has an upcoming doctor's appointment, but we’re not sure what for. The night before, she slept with a man whom she attempts to steal from in the morning, but hits a snag trying to return home. It’s a film of details - an unsettling pair of men sitting in the corner of a donut shop. An ominous looking spider bite. Inquiring of a phone operator which song was playing while on hold. LiRocchi finds a low-key tone and evocative atmosphere with understated performances and lovely visuals. -KA. Writer, director, editor: Caydon LiRocchi. Starring Tess Alexandra and Matthew Peschio. Director of photography: Brianna Ingemi. Sound: Joseph Dwyer. First AC: Marshall Chen. Chief lighting technician: Jim DanDee. Gaffer: Thibault Rakotofiringa. Sound mix: Bryan Kuroda. Executive producer: Liv Layhee.
