During a sleepover, a tween celebrity obsession tests the boundaries of friendship, privacy, and a young girl's heart. Directing duo Karina Lomelin Ripper and Marc Ripper present “Superfan,” a sharply-crafted modern coming-of-age film. Sleepover gear in hand, Selena arrives to a Pacific Northwest McMansion where her friend Jeannie lives. Despite household rules being enforced, Jeannie’s parents remain out of sight. The playdate starts off cordially as the two find their shared excitement over the heart throb “Jesse,” but once they learn they’ve both sent fan mail letters in hopes of being chosen for his “My Goddess Vacation Tour Sweepstakes,” a competitive tension rises. In addition to fantastic performances by Keylee Milania Hoberock and Addisen Titus, “Superfan” delivers a series of beautifully composed frames along with a whimsical score. -Jinho Myung.
