Short Films, 12-Jul-2019
A father writes an online review for a pair of herb scissors. An actress gets bad news while filming a credit score commercial. A football team psychs themselves up for a game with a prayer. Directed by Abigail Horton, “A Few Activities” highlights a series of small, absurd moments in the lives of a handful of people experiencing miscommunication, unfortunate mishaps, or generally the wrong idea about things. Tied together with interstitials of mundane but somewhat curious images — a plastic bag stuck in a tree, an unattended hose spraying water into a drain — it’s a clever piece of experimental filmmaking, well-observed and idiosyncratic. Director & Writer: Abigail Horton. Cast: Catherine Curtin, Brian D. Coats, Phylecia Renae, Jason Selvig. DP: Ryan Dickie. Producers: Sasha Solodukhina, Abigail Horton, Ryan Dickie, Paul Horton. Editor: Abigail Horton. Sound Design: Colin Alexander. Production Design: Evan T. Schafer. Score: Ryan Dickie.
