A semi-recovered kleptomaniac goes home for the holidays and is joined by an unlikely guest. Kate Adams and Max Azulay direct “Carmen and Moony,” a romantic comedy where antics, bits, and banter unravel at the dinner table and beyond. It’s a snowy winter day and Carmen is returning home to celebrate her recovery from kleptomania... and also the holidays. On her walk from the bus stop to her parents’ place, she finds herself in a senior center where she meets Moony. Amidst the festivities inside the center, ornamental objects and trinkets seem to catch Carmen’s eye. When she finally arrives at her folks’ home for dinner, they have plenty of concerns and comments about her well being. There’s another knock at the door — it’s Moony along with his suspicions. Done with modern stylistic finishes, Adams and Azulay endear a playful tenderness that’s nostalgic of an older type of holiday cinema. -Jinho Myung. Written and Directed by: Kate Adams and Max Azulay. Starring: Kate Adams, Max Azulay, Peter Friedman, Caitlin O'Connell. Director of Photography: Alice Boucherie. Editor: Matt Porter. Producers: Jamie Thalman, Matt Porter. Production Designer: Rose Curry.
