Comedy, Short Films, 26-Sep-2023
Two 75-year-old ladies attend a seniors-only singles retreat in the Poconos with the hopes of meeting some nice gentlemen. Jo Firestone directs “The Singles Retreat,” a charming comedy that observes the weekend pursuits and awkward run-ins of some magnetic seniors. Excited for what the weekend holds, Mimi and Linda arrive to the “Land of Love” where they check in to their suites complete with heart-shaped tubs and goodie bags with Goobers and condoms. After some mingling, vodka tonics and shrimp scampi, Linda runs into a man from her past, leading to the possibility of romance. Firestone perfectly captures her spry ensemble and their matter-of-fact thoughts on attraction, icebreakers, and potential relationships. -Jinho Myung. Director: Jo Firestone.
