DALE III
When a middle-aged man discovers a beautiful painting outside his apartment, he’s determined to share the experience with his ex-wife. Patrick Koehle’s “DALE III” delivers a comedic discourse on art appreciation. Throwing out his trash, Dale notices a painting on the street — a boat floating at sea. Moved by the work, he immediately calls his ex-wife, Theresa, with an urgent message she should come to his apartment. She isn’t thrilled to be summoned by her ex-husband, and even less thrilled upon viewing the painting. As Dale defends the beauty he sees in the work, Theresa resists. Nonetheless, he continues to fight in hopes of reaching shared ground with the woman who he still loves. Surrounded in the film’s wry, plucking musical arrangement, we’re most compelled by the invested performances of the two leads. -JM. Writer/Director: Patrick Koehle. Cast: Jud Meyers, Alice Bahlke.
