An awkward guest shows up to a party and makes things weird for everyone. Written by Kate Berlant, Andrew DeYoung and John Early, “Rachel” is a hilariously creepy portrait of a strange evening in the lives of a group of L.A. creatives. Early stars as the man throwing a party for his boyfriend, Gordon, who is about to leave town. As the guests begin to arrive, a woman named Rachel, played by Berlant, barrels in and takes command of the group’s attention with her odd theatrics and inability to read the room. As the night progresses, questions begin to emerge about who the woman is, and why she’s there. What should have been a low-key party descends into an unsettling predicament. The brilliant trio of DeYoung, Berlant and Early are also responsible for the recent short, “How Have You Been?” as well as 2014’s “Santa Monica,” and the Vimeo original series from 2017, “555.”
Directed by Andrew DeYoung. Written by Kate Berlant, Andrew DeYoung and John Early. Starring Erin Bagley, Kate Berlant, John Early, Gordon Landenberger, Blaine O’Neill, Sam Rosen, and Sam Zimman. D.P: Jonathan Furmanski.
