[Online Premiere]. Hoss checks in on his friends' old house and finds a stranger inside. Ryan McGlade directs “Hoss,” a quietly bizarre glimpse at the comings and goings of a couple residents in a small town in rural Pennsylvania. After the death of two local parishioners - an elderly married couple who died a month apart - a local pastor keeps an eye on their house while awaiting its sale. When he arrives to the home one day, an unidentified man sits quietly on a sofa, and the pastor allows him to stay for a couple days without asking questions. Vaguely unsettling and unnatural, McGlade’s film renders an almost otherworldly quality in depicting an ordinary man going about his earthly duties. With its stark landscape visuals and slow dissolve cuts, McGlade moves away from the manic energy of his previous work (including “Larry Larissa Linda” and “Bennifer”) while retaining a signature anything-goes strangeness.
Director/Editor: Ryan McGlade. Cast: Pat Cartwright, Fred Cisterna, Karen McGlade, Kelly DeCaro. DP: Cody Powers. AD: Jordan Axelrod. Gaffer: Josh Kundert-Gibbs. Sound: Sam Beneitone, Philip Kim.
