Small Hours

Documentary, Short Films, 22-Jul-2022
Inspired by the photo book format, this short documentary focuses on the seasonal workers of a small island. Charlie Weber directs “Small Hours,” a collection of summer snippets captured with evocative visuals and an ambling spirit. Kids do backflips off a pier, walk along the beach, work jobs at pizza joints. It's a film imbued with the feeling of wandering around a town with no plan or agenda. The idea is just to see what you can see, talk with some locals about their lives and the goings-on of their community (“an island of misfits,” one woman says), for the simple pleasure of the conversation and the observations. -KA. Directed by Charlie Weber. Music by Dan Liparini.
