Etta returns home from Vegas with a pile of cash and needs to explain to her boyfriend how she got it. Jessica Garrison writes and directs “DIME,” a provocative chamber drama circling a host of relationship hot buttons - trust, jealousy, sex, power. The situation escalates bit by bit - Etta arrives and greets her boyfriend Hal. He senses something is up. She explains about the money. She won it gambling, she says, but there’s more to the story. Hal keeps probing. Each new piece of information raises more questions. It’s transfixing stuff - titillating, darkly funny, incisive about the insecurities and triggers of men and women. Erica Dasher and Morgan Krantz are perfect as the quarreling couple; Garrison is in complete control of the material, a rare film that confidently tackles sexuality and gender power dynamics without resorting to simplistic moralizing. -KA. Writer/Director: Jessica Garrison. Cast: Erica Dasher, Morgan Krantz. DP: Sam Kretchmar. Editor: Ida Joglar.
