A tipsy young woman calls her ex over to kill a bug. “PONYTAILHEAD,” written by and starring Piper Verbrick and Brent Michal, is an unfiltered slice-of-life about the clumsy reconnection between recently separated partners. He isn’t thrilled to be summoned to her apartment to take care of a bug but comes over anyway. In a matter of seconds the bug is killed and it’s quickly realized that they have lingering feelings for one another, both of dependence and animosity. She sips a cheap bottle of rosé and reads him a list of his many faults from during their relationship. Filled with subtext and acerbic bickering, the film is carried by its convincing performances and intimate chemistry. -JM. Director: Brent Michal. Writers/Cast: Piper Verbrick, Brent Michal.
