Two souls meet on the New York City subway and communicate with each other through telepathy. Gabriel Guzman directs “Speak in My Language,” a poetic portrait of a cosmic romance that seems fated to last forever. After meeting on the train and discovering they share the same ability to read each other’s minds, Gregory and Hidawne embark on a passionate fling. Dates to the park and Coney Island mingle with intimate moments at home, all without the couple verbalizing a single word. But soon something begins to shift in their relationship, testing the lengths of metaphysical bond. The film is an exploration of young love and deep connection that vibrates with color and texture as it eventually moves into heartbreaking territory: what if sharing your own love language isn’t enough? -KA.
