A wanted cybercriminal lays low at the Jersey Shore. Patrick Boehmcke directs “Jessie the Ghost,” a docu-fictional portrait following a young individual on the run. We meet Jessie meandering through Jersey Shore environments — getting a tall slushee at the gas station, hitting the boardwalk arcade, and walking across highway overpasses. At night alone, Jessie sits in the corner of a McDonalds, makes a call, and informs someone of their well-being. Besides learning of the charges held against “Jessie X” through an LED billboard, the precise circumstances remain unclear, yet the film’s ambiguous, lo-fi observations are compelling. -JM. Director: Patrick Boehmcke. Cast: Xuan Liu, Lucky Marvel.
