Friyay

Friyay

Ellie doesn’t feel like going out even though it’s Friday night. Katie Colosimo directs “Friyay,” a social satire that considers the dilemmas of going out on a rainy night in Brooklyn. It’s Friday, darkness has fallen, and Ellie does the dishes. Despite what seems to be a quiet evening in the making, a quick conversation with a roommate and a multitude of text messages complicate the issue. Before long, Ellie finds herself at a bar where unanticipated interactions await, particularly with a trashed stranger in an Oasis t-shirt. As she tries to survive mingling with another human, Ellie, played by Samantha Carroll, gets wrapped up in a series of awkward dramas. Colosimo offers a fresh take on deadpan disillusionment, as also observed in her previous short on NoBudge, “Something You've Never Told Me”. -JM. Writer, Director, Editor: Katie Colosimo.
