I'm At Home
The host of a children's television show starts experiencing burnout after needing to force creativity every day. “I’m At Home,” directed by and starring Philip Thompson, is a lo-fi vision of artistic fatigue that starts off all smiles before beginning to disintegrate. An artist and performer named Phil tries to keep it together as the host of “Phil’s Home,” a colorful, hand-crafted TV show aimed at sparking imagination in kids. Each episode, Phil enters the set singing a happy tune. A hand puppet in a bird cage is bored and Phil teaches him how to paint a three-headed lion or construct a paper mache sun. But soon the host is overwhelmed by the constant need to make art, music, crafts and magic, and threatens to melt down. An exploration of persona vs inner life, Thompson’s film isn’t afraid to push into extremes. -KA. Director: Philip Thompson. Director of Photography: Aidan Cronin.
