Drama, Short Films, 01-Apr-2023
With his girlfriend recently incarcerated, a young father looks for a new job while taking care of his 6-year-old daughter. Barry K. Gibbs directs “B.S,” a raw portrait of fatherhood and work-life that's demoralizing but also touching. A cluster of obstacles are stacking up for Marquise — he’s close to being fired at his job at a freight company, his daughter is getting into trouble at school, and he’s facing eviction. Desperate to steady the ship, he scores a promising job interview and meets with his daughter’s school to address a recent squabble. Gibb’s film conveys its struggles with earnest storytelling and understated performances, especially within the tender scenes between father and daughter. -KA. Director: Barry K. Gibbs. Cast: Xavier Scott Evans, Lyla Banks, Lebene Ayivor. Director of Photography/Editor: Daniel Davila Jr. Music Composer: Alyson Murray, Calvin Greer, Abdul Tambal.
