A Chinese poet helps a newly relocated Swiss painter Elizabeth look for an apartment in Brooklyn Chinatown. “Face to Face,” directed by Weigang Song, is a quiet, well-observed portrait of a day in the life of two young artists. The struggle is real for non-rich people to find a decent apartment in the city, and so Elizabeth explores a new connection, a friend of a friend, to serve as her translator and unofficial real estate agent. They mosey between apartments, slowly getting to know one another by connecting on art and poetry, and their mutual friend William. Yixin Tong and Alicia Clara Streijffert play the pair, both lovely screen presences. And the film around them is a gentle watch, increasingly resonant as small moments accumulate and life details continue to emerge. -KA. Writer, director: Weigang Song.
