A naked body moves a stranger to empathy in this experimental film by Frank Mosley, in one of two scenes investigating body, movement, and connection. “Parthenon” is carried by the transfixing presence of Lily Baldwin; the film around her is largely wordless, and divided into two loosely connected parts. The first investigates a scene of intimacy between a woman and a man engaged in a bedroom push-pull, exploring each other’s bodies and limits. In part two, the same woman is now modeling for an art class, posed like a statue as a group of young artists attempt to draw her. When her focus turns to one student in particular (played by the equally magnetic Tallie Medel), their gazes lock into a profound staring contest. An exercise in simplicity and non-verbal expression, the film captivates in surprising and mysterious ways. -KA. Director, writer, editor: Frank Mosley; Cast: Lily Baldwin, Tallie Medel, Thiago Martins; Producer: Lauren McCune; Executive Producers: John W. Yost, Jim Powers, Steve Powers; Director of Photography: Cody Stokes; Production Designer: John Stegemann.
