Cornholios

Three devoted Cornholio enthusiasts struggle to make ends meet in New York. Presented as a direct cinema black and white documentary by the Maysles' Brothers, “Cornholios” (actually directed by Jess Lane), is an inspired low-art gag about being obsessed with a character from “Beavis and Butthead”. To the dismay of their friends and loved ones, the Cornholio connoisseurs spend every waking moment with a shirt over their heads, giggling, quoting “fire”, and watching old episodes of the animated MTV comedy. Of course, this gets in the way of everything, jobs and relationships chief amongst them. Cornholio #1 (my designation) played by Tynan Delong (listen to our podcast interview with him here) is disbarred from being a lawyer and forced to seek employment at a grocery store. The parents of Cornholio #2 (Colin Burgess) are ashamed of their son and want nothing more than for him to drop the act and pay his own rent. Meanwhile Cornholio #3 (Joe Rumrill) pitches an idea to his fiance (Caroline Yost) to serve their wedding guests ‘TP for their bungholes’. It doesn’t go over well. All told, it’s a perfectly executed parody, amazingly funny, yet also managing to inject some melancholic truth about lost souls desperately clinging to something that's been over for a long time.
Directed by Jess Lane. Written by and starring Tynan Delong, Colin Burgess, and Joe Rumrill. Featuring Caroline Yost.

They take the harebrained scheme very seriously though every element of the production is utterly unconvincing, from th...
