Ada is an unlikeable competitive walker who makes a dress out of toilet paper and has an unfortunate run-in with a hose. Eleanore Pienta’s “Ada” is a lighthearted silent comedy following the unpredictable antics of a peculiar woman making her way through crowded New York City streets. As she walks, she flails her arms wildly and loses her cool at several unsuspecting bystanders (in a store, she destroys everything on the display table for no apparent reason). At a bodega she loads up on the aforementioned tp and with it begins sewing a dress. Obnoxious behavior all around and yet oddly compelling as portrayed by Pienta, placed over a simple piano ditty and shot on film by Ashley Connor. Pienta previously starred in Drew Tobia’s “See You Next Tuesday” (2013), and Joanna Arnow’s 2017 short, “Bad at Dancing,” and she performs as one third of the esteemed NYC comedy dance troupe, ‘Cocoon Central Dance Team.’ -KA.
