Eric's strategy for crossing the street raises some big questions for Megan about the future of their relationship. “Lifehack,” directed by Will Dennis, is a quick-hitter, one-shot comedy set on the streets of NYC (Soho, to be precise). The bickering couple heads to a wedding while quarreling on issues of efficiency and opportunism. Eric listens to podcasts at double speed while Megan finds that inhuman. Megan reminds Eric of her mouth-infection purportedly caused by Eric’s insistence on toiletry efficiency, i.e. Dr. Bronner’s for everything. Fearing they may be late for the wedding, they debate how chill it’ll be — if the invitations were sent out six months ago, does that mean they have to show up exactly on time? When they reach a stop light, the real fun begins: Megan is offended by Eric’s insistence they zigzag their route depending on the stop lights, rather than just enjoying an uncomplicated straight line walk. For its incisive banter and crafty simplicity, it also makes one nostalgic for walking in New York City pre-Covid with all its congested chaos and scheming pedestrians.
