Another lazy day in Los Angeles is undermined by strange occurrences. Eric Colonna directs “Ratking,” an enigmatic drama that observes a young couple in North East L.A. as they deal with an odd visitor. Under a greenish tungsten hue, we meet the woman as she recalls a disturbing dream. Later, a drifting skater appears at their door, makes some cryptic remarks, then flees the scene. The skater introduces a state of paranoia — rats are heard scurrying beneath the floorboards, aggressive banging occurs at their front door — but is it all really happening? As it portrays brief bursts of chaos and psychological fluctuations with an original look and score, Colonna’s film may be best embraced as vivid fragments within a dreamscape. -Jinho Myung. Writer & Director: Eric Colonna. Cast: Natasha Sill, Joey Hirsh, Henry Gerse, Tyler Hammond. Cinematographer & Colorist: Andrew Finch. Producers: Anthony Lucido, Brian White.
