Estranged ex-step-siblings reunite over dinner but find themselves with opposing views on the future of their relationship. Eliza Jiménez Cossio and Lexi Tannenholtz direct “We Should Get Dinner!” a dark comedy about fractured bonds and lingering resentments. Abby and Sean grew up together but have fallen out of touch after their parents’ ugly divorce. When they reconnect after almost a decade, they waste no time bickering over restaurant etiquette or the difference between wolves and werewolves. When Abby finally reveals a motive behind the meet-up, it further inflames the situation, as captured in an unbroken 360 degree spinning shot. We previously featured Cossio with her 2019 short, “La Bruja,” and Anthony Oberbeck, a NoBudge fave, plays Sean. -KA. Directed and story by Eliza Jiménez Cossio and Lexi Tannenholtz.
