Short Films, 10-Jul-2023
An archived home movie about a baby who seems to be able to solve anything. Corey Podell, directing nearly 30 years ago, presents “Natalie Saves the Day,” created on a family camcorder in 1996 and finally edited in 2023. Shot almost entirely within the interiors and exteriors of a suburban home, Natalie, a tiny baby, gets called by various members of the Podell family to come and fix their problems: a cat stuck in a tree, a drowning brother, and other domestic dilemmas. Nostalgic to anyone who has ever made a home movie on a camcorder, “Natalie Saves the Day” serves as an incredibly charming treat of no-budget filmmaking. -Jinho Myung. Director: Corey Podell. Cast: Natalie Lutchnick, Jody Podell, Max Podell, Corey Podell. Director of Photography: Stacey Podell. Producer: Jeff Podell. Writer: Corey Podell.
