A Time for Men
Comedy, LGBT, Short Films, 29-Feb-2024
Two best friends wrestle with their masculinity as they attend what they thought was going to be a typical circuit party. Bill Benz’s “A Time for Men” is a social comedy that places two unsuspecting gay men in a hive of men's rights activism. With their QR Code flyers in hand, Todd and Nathan arrive to an industrial warehouse with techno music blasting. Under the impression that they’re going to an all-night rave, Nathan goes to find drinks while Todd looks for a user “MascTopJock” who he’s been trying to get a hold of online. There’s some weird occurrences, a bouncer scorns the two at the door and ring-light recorded testimonials are required to get drinks, but the two stick around for longer. As they stay, we’re introduced to Malcom, a boisterous spokesman for male-rights and also his milk beverage product. The film is a comedic but tense look at the friends as they navigate an increasingly frightening space. -JM Director/Editor: Bill Benz. Writer: Arne Gjelten.
