Grey Day
Comedy, Short Films, 20-Nov-2024
Two deranged young men gather a group of like-minded individuals to greet extraterrestrial visitors coming to the James River. Comedian Brian Fiddyment directs “Grey Day,” an energetic and eerie piece of sketch featuring a crazed Will Duncan and Pierce Campion. While on their way to an LSD pick-up, the two Virginians banter over a blaring FM radio. High on hanging out, they repeatedly chant “Sasha Gray,” then free-style at the kickback, and continue sharing their excitement for the alien species, commonly known as “The Greys.” While the group of alien-seekers begin making their way to the coordinated reception point, the two tweaked-out fellas execute to extremes in hopes of having an exclusive relationship with the visitors. As observed in their comedy, Campion and Duncan show no hesitation taking performances to ten, both hilarious and disturbing. Additionally, it’s a favorable look at a directorial approach from Brian Fiddyment whose work we’ve normally seen in front of the camera rather than behind. -JM.
