Haus des Meeres
02-Aug-2019
A girl sits for a portrait, allowing flowers to adorn her until they cover her completely. “Haus Des Meeres,” directed by Kristine Morgan, is a lovely video art piece envisioned as both a beautiful object and a reaction against beautiful objects. Regina Soza is the girl in the flowers, and her striking, disaffected look hints at what’s to come. Engulfed in prettiness, she begins to react unpredictably. In just over 2 minutes, Morgan’s film presents a cycle or sorts, inspired by a trajectory of creation, destruction and rebirth, as is the story of the titular Haus des Meeres, originally built as a WW II tower in Vienna Austria, which now functions as an aquarium. Director: Kristine Morgan. Cast: Regina Soza. Editor/Animation: Andrew Hakim. Original Score: Brent Glanville. Production Assistant: Chris Lopez.
