HUNNYBUNS: A Short Musical Film
4m 56s
In this surreal and lighthearted mini-musical, we follow a young couple through an unusual wedding ceremony. A song by Dekunle forms “HUNNYBUNS: A Short Musical Film,” directed by John Connor Hammond, a free-flowing oddity that begins with a Honey Bun snack cake floating in a tub of milk, and remains just as joyfully peculiar throughout. Merging the iconic (white doves follow the bride into the chapel) with the comically ill-fitted (ushers in stadium concession getups hand out wooden lockboxes to the guests), the film is all love and smiles even as it takes a drastic turn directly after the knot is tied. Dekunle and Hammond are NoBudge repeats, with their work together (“No Avocados in the Ghetto”) and separate (“Silverlight,” “Addicted to Blackface”).
