Nobody Likes You as Much as I Do

An American couple worries about the safety of a Parisian girl after a drunken night out. Jerzy Rose directs “Nobody Likes You As Much As I Do,” a relationship drama teeming with incisive exchanges, communication breakdowns, and arguments over youth and sexuality. After a lively evening that ends in a swirl of confusion, Ellie and Alan wake up the next morning with a nagging feeling that perhaps Stéphanie, an ex-student of Alan’s, got into the wrong Uber. Worried she was too drunk to make it home safely, the hungover couple spends the day scheming of her whereabouts. But it’s complicated by the fact that Alan doesn’t want to embarrass Stéphanie, or himself, by checking in on her directly. Carried by dynamic, truthful performances, the film finds moments of dark humor in its dissection of a middle-aged couple dealing with a range of issues, both deep-seated and pressing.
