Teen Daze
Drama, Short Films, 11-Nov-2019
In the summer before leaving home, Cece is eager to get her first time over with. “TEEN DAZE,” directed by Brigette Lopez, is a coming-of-age drama, which digs into the psyche and behavior of a self-assured teenage girl living with her single father. She spends her days lounging in the pool and plotting her first sexual encounter, but despite the confidence she exudes to friends and family, anxieties and doubts lurk underneath. When she finally gets her chance to be alone with the boy she’s decided to sleep with, it’s not as easy as she’d hoped. Stephanie Salgado carries the film with a wonderfully unfiltered performance, and the film around her is layered with vulnerability and heaviness, finding a surprising amount of pathos considering its casual summer vibes and Miami mansion setting.
