The Christmas Light Killer
20-Dec-2018
Every night in December, residents of a small Philadelphia suburb flock to a holiday light show, and at the end of each night, one man drives the 2 mile stretch, shutting off all the lights. This documentary profile by director James P. Gannon follows the lovable grump, James Cochran, on his nightly trek through the Christmas wonderland, as he spews his curmudgeonly thoughts on the season, and relishing the opportunity to turn it all dark (“each time is one less time”). As such, “The Christmas Light Killer,” serves as an amusingly dour antidote to saccharine Christmas reverie and expectations, and an ode to cynics longing for January, when it’s all over and quiet, and "everyone forgets about everyone”. Fun fact: Gannon’s 2009 short, “Cochran,” was one of the first films we ever screened on NoBudge, and it also stars James D. Cochran as a man who hates his job.
Directed by James P. Gannon. Starring James D. Cochran.
