One day, she wins a bus ticket to California from her nemesis while gambling in a bar, but it’s never that easy. When a handsome drifter with a broken down red convertible stumbles into the garage needing help, Diane’s luck may have just turned. Predominately known as an actor, Newton crafts a perfect showcase for herself here, a charismatic, slyly funny performance, that taps joyfully into cliche without spilling into parody. -KA.
