Struggling with a debilitating migraine, a mother sends her son to retrieve her prescription pills before she vanishes into nothing. “Goose Egg,” directed by Madeline Leshner and Zach Stone, is a darkly funny hybrid of B-movie thriller and lo-fi horror. After eating a hard boiled egg, a woman begins experiencing grotesque visions alongside her intensifying migraine. She fast-tracks her son (played by NoBudge favorite, Matt Barats) to pick up her refill at the pharmacy. But soon, he’s being aggressively followed by a couple in a giant pick-up truck, who soon have words for him. With its cartoonish villains and outlandish premise involving poisoned geese and an overzealous mayor, the film works becomes it moves quickly, delivers stylized visuals, and doesn’t take itself too seriously. -KA. Director: Madeline Leshner and Zach Stone. Cast: Matt Barats, Phoebe Tyers, Julia Radochia. DP: Isaac Berner and Zach Stone. Produced by: Sandra Tan and Graham Raubvogel of PROM Creative. Original Score: John Tournas.
