Men turn 26 and make having a sword their entire personality. Bobby McCoy directs “Swordhaver,” a comedic look at youthful detachment told through a man’s recent acquisition of a medieval blade. Played by McCoy, the man sits on the edge of a park and gazes at the Los Angeles skyline. He wears a chainmail hood over his t-shirt; he is alone. Cut to Drake AI-generated voice interlude. Back to the knight getting a McChicken from McDonald’s and continuing his rounds through the city. Posing with his blade for a selfie, a stranger suddenly approaches and interrupts. Like McCoy’s previous work, “Swordhaver” is a fresh visual experiment filled with natural comedy and feelings of isolation. -JM. Director: Bobby McCoy. Cast: Bobby McCoy, Jordan Michael Blake. DP: Michael Santos, Robby Massey. Sound: Jake Robinson.
