21-Oct-2022
Neal Suresh Mulani is a queer filmmaker based in Los Angeles whose work tends to explore shame, self-perception, and masculinity as they relate to the queer experience. Raised by a father from Mumbai and a mother from Boston, Neal spent his childhood at the crossroads of two cultures and turned to film to articulate his experiences. Neal is a graduate of the University of Southern California's School of Cinematic Arts, and currently works for the Head of Film at PICTURESTART where his credits include various feature films including Tig Notaro and Stephanie Allynne's AM I OK? (Sundance 2022). His last short, FROM THE TOP, premiered at Palm Springs ShortFest in 2020 where it was nominated for a Special Jury Award for Best LGBTQ+ Short. His next short, comedy-thriller TELL ME SOMETHING I DON’T KNOW, is produced by rubbertape (Grindr’s BRIDESMAN series) and began its festival run this spring at festivals such as IFFBoston, Inside Out: Toronto, Frameline, and Palm Springs ShortFest.
